Agreeing with the statement that “immigrants pose a threat to public safety” was another predictor of support for Le Pen (see full support model). And those with higher PPS and SSMP scores are more likely perceive immigrants as a threat than other French citizens.

 

Approximately 50% of French citizens strongly or somewhat agree that immigrants pose a threat to public safety in France.

Almost two thirds of those with the highest PPS score think immigrants pose a threat to public safety in France. By contrast, nearly two thirds of those French with the lowest PPS score believe immigrants do not pose a threat to public safety in France.

When tested in a model, PPS remains a statistically significant predictor of French attitudes toward immigrants and threat.
